FREE Car Wash Saturday May 19th 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Zion's Night at the Ballgame Friday June 22nd Pirates vs. the Detroit Tigers >Complete Survey Form
Like the one we did last summer, we’ll be doing another FREE CAR WASH at the church for the people in our community (and members of the church) on the 19th of May from 10-2. We need your washing, detailing, drying, and even hot dog cooking and coffee brewing skills! Hope to see YOU at church on the 19th!
So why mention this two days in a row ... because people just can't believe that a Church is sponsoring a FREE car wash. Don't Church's normally raise money at a car wash? Instead of raising money, we're raising awareness that you've got a friend in the community -- and they're at Zion Lutheran Church.
Mary Kay make-up demonstration A Mary Kay make-up demonstration will be held at Zion on Saturday, May 19th at 1:00. If you will be attending, please contact Clara Hayes.

Jonah is showing for only one season so join us and go back in time to witness one of the greatest stories of the Bible. This powerful and inspiring family musical takes you on a journey of love, mercy, obedience, second chances, and the rediscovery of one’s self and the all-merciful heart of God. Breathtaking effects include a 30-foot-tall ship that breaks apart right before your eyes and an immersive underwater scene with the big fish that swallows God’s misguided prophet--you won’t believe your eyes, but it will capture your heart!

Pastor's Message from the Sunday Bulletin Spirit Airlines was recently in the news for initially refusing to refund a terminally ill war veteran with cancer the cost of his ticket for a flight he was medically unable to take. The airline ended up refunding the ticket price as well as making a $5000 donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. Putting itself squarely in the media’s crosshairs, it was also discovered that this airline was looking to charge passengers $100 for a carry-on bag.
After hearing this, I began to think how I would pack for a trip if I knew I was going to be charged $100 to bring an additional bag with me. First, I would dress in 5 layers of clothing. I would cram as much into the pockets of said layers of clothing as I could and wear a large hat in which I could put additional travel necessities.
When space is limited we are forced to ask the tough question: what do I need to bring with me when I travel?
In about an hour (or two) from now, you are going to be traveling from this place of refuge and sanctuary back into a world that fights against what you believe and know to be true. What are you going to bring with you from this place back into the world? If you had a carry-on bag of things that you took from church with you in your travels out in the world, what would be in it?
The one thing the church can give you to carry-on into the world is the Jesus of Scripture. The Jesus who forgives you, sets you free and guarantees you eternal life.

The Gospel Lesson: John 15:9-17 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.
